About Costas Taverna
The Greeks’ warm hospitality and passion for food are known the world over. Christchurch people can now bask in that hospitality and taste the cuisine at Costas Taverna in Victoria Street.
The restaurant opened in November 2005 and has already won the Ethnic Award and an Award of Excellence in the 2006 Meadows Grande Entree Mushroom Competition.
The restaurant, at 118 Victoria St, pays homage to postcard perfect Greek scenery with murals depicting the blue and white townships of the Greek Islands. There are also flatscreens playing images of Greek Islands such as Santorini, Mykonos and the Mediterranean. Other DVD’s play modern and traditional music.
The music and scenery sets the mood for your greek experience. The atmosphere, wonderful food and hospitality at Costas Taverna completes it.
Head Chef, Scott Johnson, also part of the family, has added a personal touch to traditional Greek Dishes. The restaurant uses fresh New Zealand ingredients, but also imports olive oils, cheese, wines and of course the famous Greek spirit, Ouzo!
